Three year undergraduate Dramaturgy Studies programme is the only programme of study in Croatia dedicated to dramatic writing and screenwriting, theoretical and practical dramaturgy. Its interdisciplinarity and methodological diversity, but also the range of perspectives it opens to its students are placing it amongst the leading Dramaturgy programmes in the international context.
Two year postgraduate Dramaturgy Studies programme is not simply a continuation of undergraduate course, meaning that it is open to undergraduates of different studies either at the Academy or at Zagreb University, but also to students of other Universities in Croatia and abroad. Postgraduate Dramaturgy Studies do not only provide specialization through one of four programmes (Dramaturgy of Performance, Film Dramaturgy, Theatre Dramaturgy, Dramatic Writing and Screenwriting) but also through creation of individual programmes adjusted to specific interests and students’ artistic and research projects. In other words, MA in Dramaturgy is not just limited to one of four programmes, but is also unique for its focus on each student’s research agenda.
Interdisciplinarity of Dramaturgy Studies is also reflected in the list of academic staff at the Dramaturgy Department, artists and scholars who confirm the relevance and excellence of their work, both on and off stage, in Croatia and abroad, with publications in Croatian and foreign languages, as recipients of numerous awards and grants, for leading local and international research and educational projects. The range and diversity of competences, experiences and interests of the academic staff at the Dramaturgy Department offers students a wealth of opportunities to gain knowledge, develop skills and proficiencies in various aspects of dramaturgical calling, from playwriting to theatre criticism, from theoretical thinking to organization of artistic community, from adaptation, i.e. dramatization of authorial prose to creative production, from dance dramaturgy to TV and film screenwriting.
